Overview

Tuscany.  The name conjures up images of rolling hills covered with rows of grape vines, red wine, walled medieval towns and works from the masters, Leonardo Da Vinci, Michael Angelo and Botticelli.

Experience a culinary adventure that will immerse you in all things Tuscan, most notably the foods and wines that make this region of Italy famous.

Florence, the capital of the region, is where you will begin your quest for the finest that Tuscany has to offer.  Stroll the medieval city streets with a professional guide where you will be captivated by the Duomo, magnificent piazza's and elegant palaces. Become mesmerized as you are guided through some of the worlds most renowned museums, enjoying priceless masterpieces such as Michael Angelo's "David" or "The Birth of Venus" by Sandro Botticelli. But this is just the beginning. Florence's culinary scene has been cultivated through the ages and you will indulge in some of its finest products. Dine in rustic yet elegant restaurants, savour specialties like home made pasta, fresh seafood and of course Florentine Steak or Bistecca alla Fiorentina.

As we depart Florence you are transported through the idyllic countryside, through the rolling hills, past the vineyards and charming villages, to take up temporary residence in the medieval hill town of Siena. From here you will explore all that Tuscany has to offer, and it will not disappoint! Siena is likely Italy's loveliest medieval city. It's heart is its central piazza known as Il Campo, known worldwide for the famous Palio run here, a horse race around the piazza. Your local guide will lead you through its lovely narrow alleyways, show you hidden fountains and share with you the history of this ancient city. Siena's restaurants provide you with the opportunity to try true Tuscan cuisine and some of the finest wines in the world, including those from the famous region of Chianti, just a short distance away.

 

Autumn is a special time in Tuscany.  Many of the regions finest food festivals take place at this time of year so as to coincide with the harvests.  During November the harvests include olives and white truffles. You will participate in the olive harvest, attend a world famous white truffle festival, attend a cooking class at a winery in Montepulciano, discover all there is to know about Pecorino cheese in Pienza and try the best gelato in the world (no kidding they won an award) in San Gimignano.  There will many bottles of wine to share and new friends to make on this delightful culinary tour of Tuscany!
